Jockey Jarrad Noske had a “day out” and Ascot today, collecting a career best race day treble which also included a Group win.
Noske opened his account in the Westspeed Plate 2yo 1000m, guiding the Snitzel filly O’Hara De Belle ($5.50) to a nail biting win. Sitting outside the leader Thateldo ($2.50 fav), Noske got the better of the favourite inside the final furlong, only to have Camporella ($5.50) charge at him late. But the run was in vain, with O’Hara De Belle clinging on for a neck victory, with Thateldo holding onto third a further length away.
The second leg of Noske’s treble was well received by punters. Aboard the Michael Lane trained Bustabill ($6.00 – $3.80), Noske got the most out of the 4yo Key Business gelding to claim the Campari Red Passion HCP 1400m by a long head after being prominent throughout. To round off his trifecta of winning rides, Noske finally found the line with Maschino ($3.40 fav), sailing to victory from near last in the Group 3 RJ Peters Stakes 1500m.
Veteran hoop Paul Harvey wasn’t going to be left out the equation, saddling up two winners on the card. Harvey ensured The Rising’s ($1.45 fav) undefeated run would stay intact, with a clinical one length victory in the Crown Perth 3yo HCP 1000m, followed by arguably the ride of the day aboard Fuddle Dee Duddle ($12.00), storming home from near last in the Group 3 Sky Vodka Champion Fillies Stakes 1600m.
The Neville Parnham trained Checkpoint ($2.25 fav) made it two from two this preparation with a one length win in the Wild Turkey Bourbon HCP 1200m after being handy throughout, while Full Reign ($3.30 fav) made the most of a sizable drop in class to come from tenth on the turn to career away for a ¾ length salute in the American Honey HCP 1500m. Leading jockey William Pike added to his premiership tally in the last of the day, with a sizzling finish in the Wild Turkey Rare Breed HCP 1800m, coming from twelfth at the 400m mark to capture a ½ length win.
Next week sees WA’s premier day of racing with Super Saturday. A terrific initiative by Perth Racing, featuring the running of the Group 1 Railway Stakes 1800m, the Group 1 WFA Winterbottom Stakes (1200m), and the Group 2 WA Guineas (1600m) for the three year olds. Strap yourself in – it’s gunna be a beauty.
