Apprentice jockey David Corp landed his maiden win at provincial level when he guided The Pupster to a barnstorming win in the Probus Association Of Western Australia Maiden (1600m) at Pinjarra.

Riding for his master Brett Pope, Corp had The Pupster near last on cornering before scoring a short-head victory over race favourite and the Rod Lewis-trained Invidious.

The Pupster’s first win from 18 starts caps off a great comeback for Corp who had only just returned to the saddle after an absence of almost three years.

He resumed at Leinster on May 26 and landed immediate success with a win and two placings from his three mounts.

It’s been a top couple of days for apprentice riders with Melissa Milner landing her maiden city winner at Belmont yesterday aboard Wild West Willy.
