With the prestigious Kalgoorlie Race Round currently underway, Wednesday 19th September 2012 saw the combined running of the Hannan’s Handicap and the Boulder Cup at the Kalgoorlie Boulder Racing Club.

Just prior to the start of the third race on the day, unfortunately power was lost to all on course facilities including Sky Racing cameras that televise racing nationally.

Due to the unfortunate timing of losing power and subsequent loss of audio and vision, betting was not closed until after the race had actually commenced. This resulted in a number of bets being placed nationally in contravention of various Regulations governing the racing and wagering industry.

Those bets identified as being placed after the start of the race were required to be cancelled and customers who feel they may have been impacted are entitled to a refund.

All efforts were made to notify customers nationally via Sky Racing and directly to TAB agents across Western Australia. No customers on course at the Kalgoorlie Boulder Racing Club were impacted.

Given the nature of SuperTAB pooling arrangements and the number of jurisdictions involved, it took some time to resolve the cancellation of the incorrectly placed bets, recalculate the dividends and subsequently release those dividends to customers nationally.

Racing and Wagering WA sincerely apologises for any inconvenience caused.

For any outstanding bets entitled to a refund in light of this matter, a Lost Ticket Claim can be made at your nearest WA TAB agency. Once the TAB has verified your claim a refund will be posted.
