Apprentice jockey Chanelle O’Grady has shot to a narrow lead in the Rising Star Series following a riding treble at Meekatharra on Monday.

O’Grady boosted her points tally to 79 after piloting to victory Aerial Act, Finley Point and Aknightus for Walkaway trainer Glen Cortes.

O’Grady also gained maximum points at Northam’s Sunday meeting when Swap Ya held on to defeat the fast-finishing Immunetojudgement.

Seven points astern is Sasha Starley who relinquished the lead despite booting home Hudson Hawk and Don’t Like Dolls in the opening two races.

The two Aaron’s, Mitchell and Rogers, are locked in their own battle for third and fourth positions respectively.

Mitchell just failed to grab maximum points when his mount Rancher’s Court ran a short-neck second to Snowcrab.

Rogers improved his ranking after the powerful finish of No Time To Flirt, 2 ¼ lengths third behind Queen Of Quincy.

Queen Of Quincy was well rated by Ellie Cockram who gained further points at Belmont on Saturday when Miami Horror ran third to classy galloper Petrenui.

Mitchell is on 39 points, one ahead of Rogers and seven clear of Cockram.
