In January 2017 the Department of Commerce advised all incorporated associations to review and where necessary update their rules (often known as the constitution) to ensure they complied with the Associations Incorporation Act 2015 with the deadline for compliance being 1/7/2019.
Your Committee engaged chartered accountants, Stielow and Associates, to undertake the review which was completed late September this year.
It was apparent following the review that numerous changes to our constitution would need to be made so as to comply with the requirements of the new legislation.
For your information I have arranged for the review from Stielow and Associates to be uploaded on to the WAROA website and should you have any queries don’t hesitate to contact me on 0412 985 189.
To allow for the new / amended rules to be introduced into our Constitution they need to be approved at either an Annual General Meeting (AGM) or an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM). As our next AGM will not take place prior to 1/7/19 an EGM will need to be held prior to 30/6/19 to approve the changes and ensure we are not in breach of the legislation. I would anticipate the date of this meeting would be either February or March of 2019.
