METROPOLITAN
RWWA will increase stakes for 2yo, 3yo and 3up open events run at metropolitan venues to $60,000. This is part of a wider strategy over a period of time to close the gap in metropolitan prime stakes between Perth and Melbourne/Sydney.
Listed Races
Minimum prize money on Western Australia’s 53 listed races will increase to $100,000. Consistent with group races, a 0.5% acceptance fee will now be levied on all listed races.
Group Races
The following races run during the Festival of Perth Racing will also enjoy prize money increases, providing a new minimum stakes level for group two races of $250,000.
WA Guineas [G2] $400,000 (increase of $50,000)
C B Cox Stakes [G2] $250,000 (increase of $25,000)
Lee Steere Stakes [G2] $250,000 (increase of $50,000)
PRIZE MONEY PAID TO 6TH PLACING
RWWA will extend the payment of prize money to 6th placing, by reducing 1st to 64% of total stakes and adding a payment to 6th of 1%. This will apply to all metropolitan and provincial races of $15,000 or greater.

PROVINCIAL
RWWA’s strategy to increase stakes for handicap races at inner provincial venues to the equivalent levels as midweek metropolitan is to be completed, while all maiden races run at provincial venues will increase by $1,000 per race.
Owners racing horses at outer provincial venues will also enjoy stakes increases across all categories of racing while Esperance will be categorised as a Provincial venue for the first time.
Feature Races
RWWA is providing additional funding to all Provincial Race Clubs for feature races and increases in prize money will be announced in coming months, following consultation with Clubs.
COUNTRY
RWWA is providing a 5% increase in stakes funding to all Country and Community Race Clubs. Increased stakes levels will be advertised in Racing Ahead in due course.
