The David Harrison trained Settle Strada continued its love affair with Belmont Park today, with a runaway victory in the listed $80,000 HG Bolton Sprint 1200m.

The 4yo Strada gelding has relished the local winter headquarters, with six wins and a third from seven starts on the track – with today’s result securing back to back Belmont feature victories inside the last fortnight.

At luxury odds of $7.00 last start, punters were left pinching themselves following a dominant first up triumph by Settle Strada in the listed Beaufine Stakes 1000m. Investors were not going to be left out of today’s feature, smashing Settle Strada ($2.70 – $2.50 fav) into outright favouritism prior to the event.

Sitting handy throughout in fifth position, jockey Pat Carbery willed the favourite forward entering the straight – collecting the front runners with ease before dashing to the line for a 1 ¼ length salute. Kalahaar ($4.00) posed the only legitimate challenge – running on into second, while last year’s Bolton Sprint victor Zester ($8.50) stuck on gamely lugging a 59kg impost to capture third – a further 1 ½ lengths adrift.

Harrison looks set to send Settle Strada to the listed $80,000 Belmont Newmarket 1200m (10th August) in an attempt to replicate the recent trifecta of winter feature race victories claimed by the promising 3yo filly Summah’s Touch, while a tilt at the Goldfields feature races in the coming months is also not out of the question.
